Improvement Project Jumpstart

If you have an improvement project in mind but little time to get it done, the Improvement Project Jumpstart provides a fast way forward.

Major Progress in One Session

This facilitated session is for teams with a defined improvement project. It helps them move quickly from focused discussion to a concrete action plan, then on to implementation.

OOE facilitators provide just-in-time guidance on key improvement tools and then guide your team in putting those tools to work.

The result is accelerated progress – your team accomplishes in one session what might otherwise take weeks or even months.

In advance: The project sponsor works with an OOE facilitator to clarify the project, intended outcomes, participants, and data. Key info is compiled in a brief project charter, setting up the Jumpstart for focus and success.

Starting with discovery: With facilitator guidance, the team begins by studying the current situation. Their aim in this opening phase is to uncover what’s working, what’s not, and where improvement will have the most impact.

Moving on to solutions: As session time allows, the team begins exploring and prioritizing potential improvements – identifying practical ideas that can lead to meaningful results.

End-of-session guidance: The facilitators close the session by giving the team a clear plan of next steps, so they can complete the project on their own.

Ongoing support: OOE staff remain available for follow-up support and future facilitation as needed.

Required: Team has a sponsor who prepares a project charter with guidance from the facilitators – and a team leader who serves as the point person and continues to guide the team once the OOE facilitators wrap up their work

Length: 3-6 hours (a full-day session allows time to complete most or all of the project)

Participants: 4-10 team members directly involved in the process or resource area

Format: In-person session recommended for stronger collaboration and faster progress – though Teams can work for some sessions
