Hi, I am Brooklyn Bailey a first-generation college student in the Honors College! I enjoy hanging out with friends, watching movies, spending time outside and trying new restaurants. After graduation I plan to go to dental school and pursue a career in cosmetic dentistry.

Why I chose the South Carolina Honors College
I chose the South Carolina Honors College because I loved the aspect of smaller class sizes that allow students and professors to develop a stronger educational relationship.
My advice for prospective students: Stay focused on your goals and reasons for coming to USC. College can have very fun and exciting experiences but you have to know how to balance your responsibilities and the fun.
Favorite question during an information session: How do you get involved on campus?
The best way to get involved on campus is to go to all of the first weeks' activities on campus, such as the student organization fair. Going to these events will introduce you to new people, clubs and organizations. Once you find clubs and organizations you are interested in it is important that you join GroupMe's, go to club meetings and try to make as many connections as possible. There is a place for everyone on campus but you must go out and make connections to get involved!
Favorite Honors class: My favorite Honors class is Seeing in Black and White: Race and Vision in African American Literature. I liked this class because the professor allowed us to have a lot of open discussions that made the class fun and interesting. We also read a lot of intriguing excerpts which kept the class engaging.
Favorite Honors bucket list item or experience: My favorite Honors bucket list experience was going to the Honors Gala.
Something I’m proud of that’s not on my resume: Something I am proud of that is not on my resume is being a first-generation college student. My parents worked very hard growing up to provide me with a good education, and I am proud that I am able to continue that as the first in my family to go to college.
